Hi All,
I have a bit of a problem. Well my male Crestie does. I have had my pair together for a few months and have had one clutch of eggs from them and generally they get along great. Well about a week ago I saw that something had happened to the tail on my boy. The last third of the tail looked all cut up and was black like it had been in a fire. I had no idea what had happened until yesterday. My female sees the tip of his tail dangling over a piece of wood and thinks it is a cricket. I saw her race up the back wall of the cage and grab the tip of his tail in her mouth and she would not let go until I sprayed her with water. I am surprised he has not lost his tail with that kind of treatment but he is a pretty mellow boy. BUT my concern is for his tail and possible infection for the wounded tail. Has anyone had this problem or have any suggestions on what I can/should do. I was thinking about putting a tiny bit of something like bitter apple on the tip of his tail to discourage her from biting it but ?? Anyone have any thoughts or experience with this??
Thanks,
Tammy
