Escaped baby

Geckofanatic23 Aug 01, 2006 10:43 PM

My little female butter corn has gotten out! I last saw her at 10:00 last night. I fed her two pinkies and locked the cage like I always do, and made sure it was secure. I checked on her at about 4:00 this afternoon and she was gone. I have checked most of my room so far and have kept a towel shoved underneath the door. Can anyone tell me how I can find her? Since she has pinkies in her, I'm going to set up low wattage heat lamps with crumpled papers and toilet paper tubes under them in two spots on different ends of the room. I'm also going to place two defrosted pinkies in a bucket trap and hopefully the smell will entice her to go in. Thanks for any suggestions!

good luck! i had a baby king get out and i have no idea how. i think he just squeezed like he.. through the lid. found him outside dead. sorry about that but what i did was look up under every and anything. hard to see places i took a mirrow and stuck it up under stuff to look. i read also about putting flour along the door entry and when/if he crawled through the flour he would leave a trail....this sounds like a great idea but if you have dogs..haha..it doesn't as they ate the flour

you have some great ideas too. i do hope you find him.

Thanks for the help. I found the baby corn! Actually, she seemed to find her cage. I had left the lid of the cage off after I discovered her loose. I completely sifted through the aspen with an unused cat litter scooper, to make sure I wasn't missing her when I looked through the bedding by hand. I removed everything from the cage to make sure she wasn't somehow hiding in it. With no sign of her I left the room with a towel under the door. Two hours later I returned, and she was in the cage, slithering around! I really couldn't be happier. A while back I got a baby kingsnake at a show at the same time as the escapee corn. That little king got out like yours did, and we have found now trace of her since. Thanks a bunch! -The Gecko Freak

A lot of people have found their snakes in the cage after searching everywhere else thoroughly. So sift through the bedding, inspect the hides and water bowls thoroughly, and look on all lips where she could be hiding.
