is how they(usually) just sort of mellow with age,no?lol, not this guy.seems he's as full of piss and vinegar now as day one.patternless mugitus....and while i'm bugging him, here's another,a still-young-and-skittish amel.

Beautiful snakes you have there. Luckily most of my Pits are mellow, but you almost miss that attitude after they calm down. I think Pits are some of the most interesting captives.....just awesome. Tom Stevens

Most of my pits are pretty mellow, except of course when the smell of food is anywhere in the room. I do have a couple that are really nasty though and makes it a challenge to clean the cage.

..and HOW!

My southern has been an ANGEL since day 1, and only recently showed ANY kind of aggression whatsoever.

Until about 2 weeks ago, she was literally eating out of my hand. She never really got into that feeding 'mode' or anything- just SUPER mellow.

I'm not sure if it was the heat spell we had here or what, but when I offered her a rat like I always do, she went APE-&$@! and DESTROYED the rat I offered her! It was GREAT!

It scared the you know what outta me, but I was so excited!

Pits are the coolest!

THat is one really cool thing about pits, their speed in overtaking their prey. I have some long tubs which are recessed back some. When you pull them out, sometimes you just barely get the rat by the tail into the tub and the snake will race out, snatch it, and retract in about a second. People who are not used to seeing it, react in awe in just how fast they can be. Even my laid back patternless southern is quick. She is extremely mellow and I can pick up whenever I want to without so much as a hiss. If I was to put a prekilled rat in there, she has absolutely no mercy on it.
