I just got this one today from LLLReptile. She is a feisty one. The first time I picked her up to put her in her new home she latched onto my knuckle and didn't want to let go. She's my first milk snake. A lot more skittish than my kings. After I held her for 2 or three minutes she calmed down a lot. So I think she'll be ok. Her name is Fruitloops. I'm not really sure if she's a girl or a boy but I've deceided to call her a she.

although maybe the name Jaws would have been more appropriate. Enjoy the baby, they grow up so fast!

Thanks. I thought about naming her Jaws or Knuckles. I wish I had the camera ready when she decieded to give my knuckle a taste. It was kind of cute. I guess it's better to let her get me now than have her get me when she's a little older and can fit more in her mouth. I'm happy with her she's my first milk like I said and my first tri colored snake too.

Don't worry. Peublans can be a little jumpy as youngsters, but with some frequent handling, they will calm down. I've got an adult female peublan that will just coil in my hand and not move at all. Enjoy your new snake!

Yeah she's calmed down a lot even since yesterday. She still don't like to be picked up but after you get her she relaxes and curls up in my palm. She still gets the urge to make a flying leap out of my hands so I don't take her too far from her enclosure yet. And I usually sit on the floor when I hold her so if she's does take a dive it wont be from too high up. So far I've been able to keep hold of her though.

is to cup them between my two hands. They felt more secure in the dark and I felt more secure that I wasn't going to have to chase them down on the floor. It is really hard to hold onto a tiny squirmy snake, that is for sure. I also found that if I held my pueblan for about five minutes minimum each day (excluding feeding day and 48 hours after and excluding shedding times), he got remarkably calmer.

I just hatched some out, and yes they are quick to bite and don't want to let go! They are also quick to leap from your hand to the floor below, so watch out. They are a little shy but will eventually learn to remain calm. Stick out the early months and you will have one to love!
