good bye gertie

jeune18 Aug 02, 2006 09:43 AM

kaiserin gertie of the house of pratt also known as green gertie and gert mcgert died this morning. i had to take the lizards to the vet and was going to take her too because i had noticed she was acting weird but she never made it alive. i am waiting for an autopsy. walter has been there since monday. they are force feeding him and injecting him with all kinds of things. i am sure he is going to die too. pretty soon i won't have any collareds left

Many hugs.

I'm so sorry Vonnie. It's terrible to lose even one, much less one after the other. I'm sending good vibes to Walter.

frustrating time, I'm very sorry about her she's a pretty baby girl, it's been a tough go at it lately with the lizards, for you, and alot of others this season. Bad time to bring this up but I too have had a MAJOR loss, my beautiful Kachina, was very ill after her last large clutch of 11 eggs she seemed to have had a stroke or something similar, and never came out of it.

So my heart is heavy also I only hope that you can find out whats going on and Walter can come home and live happily and healthy.

** Hope all our lizards who have died, have an awesome place to romp, and bask, and just have fun with each other being happy lizards once again

Hang in there kido

Oh, Eve

I know how much you loved her. I'm feeling really bad right now, learning that you both lost your kids. It is just heartbreaking news.

I'm really sorry to hear the bad news from both of you, but I believe there is a god and he probably looks after his lizards the same as he looks after everybody else.

It's a shame that so many have had to leave us this year but it's better that we were given the opportunity to spend time with them in the first place.

It's good to know they were well cared for and that they lived happy and prosperous lives whilst they were here xxxxxxx

You and me, both. You and Valarie and Eve have really gone through the wringer.

Ya know, what you're going through reminds me of what happened to my collared collection back in the 90s. I lost them all, one by one, just like this. Believe me, I knew how to take care of them, but all of the medicine and TLC in the world could do nothing for them. It hurt so bad to lose my beloved babies like that, that I didn't get another collared for quite a few years. It scared the hell out of me to think that whatever it was that killed 18 of my lizards in one fell swoop could strike again, so I stayed away from those wonderful little guys until about two years ago when I finally worked up the nerve to try again.

I hope you won't let this experience scare you away like it did me.
