HELP - hatchling escaped

jpman78 Aug 02, 2006 11:40 AM

I had a relative change water/clean cages for me since I was going to be gone and he accidentally left a rubbermaid out too far and a hatchling squeezed out.

I've already pulled out all the racks an searched most everywhere in the room, I believe he is roaming around somewhere else in the house. He has been out either just last night or also the night before.

I'd take any and all suggestions on finding him.

Warm hides at night? He hasn't been fed yet so maybe an accessable hopper and a hide?

Thanks in advance!

I lost two once in a make-shift nursery. I found neither traveled too far - just seeking security. Start by looking from the escape point out and and look for tight, secure areas. Even behind other tubs in racks.

Yep did that Even looked INSIDE the adult rubbermaids in the adult rack next the hatchling rack....

2 actually escaped. I found one curled up next to vent for my air (AC is on of course)....little girl was cold but alive and well about 8ft from the rack in the same room.

I assume even the best herpers have lost a couple hatchlings....I wish they were as easy to find as the adults I've got a pic of an adult that got out (was an unfinished rack without a back that a friend pushed the rubbermaid too far back so it was open on the other side)...it only took 2 mins to find her, she was straddled across the open toilet in my bathroom.....it was pretty funny....I just think she wanted to be toilet trained

Thanks, anymore input would be helpful...I'm hopeful....but I also own a dog....he has been kenneled since I found out I was missing some.

Thanks!

Make sure you don't just look down. I have never lost one, but I have heard of many people finding their snakes in high locations. They will climb.

I know this looks staged but is 100% true...this is exactly where I found him...less than 1ft from where I sleep and managed to get by my dog somehow........atleast he was safe

LOL!
