How Hot is to Hot????

malesh02 Aug 02, 2006 12:58 PM

Weather in the northeast has been very warm lately. All racks are unplugged however ambient room temp has been on the warm side. What temp is dangerously to high???

Thanks in advance,

T

Why did you unplug the racks? The heat will only come on when needed if they are on a thermostat. As long as the room temp stays below 90 or so you will be fine.

Yeah temps in Ohio have been in the mid 90's 3 days straight.

One of the most important pieces of equipment in herpetoculture is one that sounds kind of odd, and air conditioner. Even if it is just an in-window type they are needed to be able to control temps.

The only room in my house with AC is my reptile room I like to keep a steady room temp of 75 and then adjust individual enclosures based on species. How many other people sleep in the heat while their reptiles are nice and cool?

By the way my name is Jamie and I participate in the Rainbow Boa forum quite a bit. I’m researching Ball Pythons and will be buying a few in the next few months.

I'm in the great north east too, and it's been outright nasty lately.

I agree with the previos posts on thermostats, there is no heat once your settings are surpassed.

Anyway, I would say anything 90deg and over(for more than short durations) is excessive for ambiant heat throughout the room.

they need to thermoregulate, needing at least a mid 80's side to cool down.
