All 8 eggs developed full term, but only 4 hatched out alive. I did assist slits on the "stragglers" but I must have just missed the window. The dreaded DIE (dead in egg.) The hatching problem seems to be somewhat consistent with my other "mexicana" species, as in alterna. Very rarely does it occur with the Cal Kings or other colubrids. I wonder if because mexicana are generally much smaller as hatchlings their egg tooth or overall strength can't quite make the necessary progress if the egg shells get slightly tough? Of course it could also be my incubation conditions. Maybe I need to make some changes for these types of snakes. The 4 that did hatch ok are really cool........I'm totally hooked on the "what will each one look like" concept with these snakes! But of course, I think the 2 best ones were in the "didn't make it" group. I'll let the "experts" help me with that. Regretfully, here are a couple of pics from the non living group. The good ones are in shed, so I'll post their pics as soon as their done. So yeah, THANKS for ASKING Rick......LOL.

I had a fair amount of the same problems. I had three leonis that were all really nice that did the same thing. Not sure why but I had more of those this year than I've ever seen. I also had a few that hatched out and then died a day or two later. I'm not sure what was up with that this year.
We can't wait to see your live ones. Congrats on those Eimon.

That would truely suck. What a heart break. We can talk (email me, call, etc.) I do not cut many thayeri eggs at all, usually only the few that get buried under the pile and then not always. Got to be something going on to affect your Grey Bands too.
You're right those were nice looking.
