Hey whats going on with the double cage. Did you reopen alcatraz its a tiny snake it aint gonna get out i know i posted on what i kept mine in they have latch lock lids and thats it no double caging i hate to tell you thats a waist of space. I gotta say the pigmys are in my room and i sleep fine at night.I never worry about it. I dont think you should either. Im not tryin to bash you i just think you are over reacting about these snakes. I know they are dangerous thats why they are hots but they arent a black mamba. Just wanted to give you my opinion as i am sure there are other people who probably think the same thing

Um you can never over do safty...... If that is how he feels safe then that is what he should do....... I can tell from your post that you are a very inexperianced keeper.... You keep hots in the room you sleep in??? Sounds pretty unsafe to me..... If you keep hots you should have a hot room set up for them..... Just when you dont think a snake can escape, it will...... Amuatures should not be giving advice to others..... Longtang, do what feel is safe for you and do not listen to anyone that tells you to take a shortcut on safty..... Nice snakes by the way.....

Go ahead and drive home, you've only had a few drinks. I do it all the time. What are you, a wimp?

Yes. It is pretty much like fort Knox around the Hot zone. Perhaps it is overkill, but over time, I am sure I will grow more complacent as I get more experience.

This is a self-taught hot keeper here. I had no one to mentor with, so I have to take all the precautions. I heed pretty much all the warnings about hots and would like to err on the side of caution for now. I read a lot on the web. You are probably right in that I am reading caresheets that pertain to things much much hotter than pigmies.

Later, I am sure I will be more comfortable, and let my guard down. For now, the mantra "if they escape, you will have to move out of your house and move all your neighbors out until they are found" keeps on playing in my head. . . . . If I can just make that sentence go away, I am sure I will be more relaxed.

So, since I am paranoid about having to move out of my house and moving my neighbors, I have no choice but to double cage for now.

Please don't get me wrong, I do appreciate your opinion. Also, I do learn from your posts. From what you have posted, I have already changed my husbandry set up (for example, I have gone to one hide box and no heat tape). Please do not stop posting just because I am anal on the double caging thing. I do love reading about pigmies and talking about them, even if sometimes I can be stubborn.

Hey, I wouldn't call you paranoid or anal or anything like that, but rather a very sensible person who understands that one can not be too careful with hots. After reading Oldherper's post about copperheads on the general snake forum, I should think that a lot of other herpers will see it your way.
