Viper Gecko Substrate?

SusannahJoy Aug 02, 2006 11:18 PM

Hello! I bought a baby viper gecko at a show a couple weeks ago, and so far it looks like he's doing great, eating, growing, pooping, the whole thing. i do have a question though. the first couple pages i looked up on how to care for them said either sand or bed a beast would work as a good substrate. i just happened to have some bed a beast lying around so i used that, but since then all other references have said that sand is best. should i leave it the way it is or should i change it? as i said, he's doing great right now. very active at night. it's fun watching him hunt crickets and fruit flies. any advice?

i would use sand, i have some and thats what i use. they are more savannah dwelling creatures anyway, not forest. also the bed a beast holds water very well and it may get too wet ormake the tank too humid (if u are using a glass top).
