What next?

I am looking everywhere for a Boa or python that doesn't get as big as a BCI, but not as small as a sand boa. I have two ball pythons and I want something that is docile.

So this is what I'm looking for.

5-7 feet
Docile
Not heavy bodied
Beginner-intermediate level.

Any suggestions?

I'd suggest possibly a jungle carpet python. With regular handling, they get very gentle. I've only heard good things from those I know who keep them. A male and most females would be in a 5-7 foot range.

ya i have a JCP and he is great. very gentle. i can handle him anytime. even in shedding when his eyes are clouded over he will not try to bite me. of course i dont' handle him at that time. he is great. nice size. hangs out on his branches so i can see him. i read alot about different bigger snakes other then my corns and decided to get one. esp when i saw him i was hooked. i had to get him. he is 7 foot now.

...how about a male bci?...5-7' average...not to heavy...

I really am thinking about one, its just I don't like the fact that they can't be handled alone when older.

...a male boa would be fine as they rarely grow bigger than 5 and a half feet and weigh about 20 lbs.,i have never seen a male bci that took more than one person to hold (unless you are very small),and docile to boot, rarely any feeding problems (at least with mine lol)...the perfect pet snake!

I love white-lips, but they are probably one of the most high strung boids out there. There are fast, flighty and bite without hesitation. A few captive born babies can be raised to be handleable, but you never trust them. I have watched cb baby white-lips striking at hooks and even the shadows cast by hooks. They are gorgeous, but not something I would recommend to someone looking for a tame boid.

There are several good canditates in that range, although babies of many of the species have to be handled with care until you get to know them. Some that come to mind are..

Childrens/Spotted Pythons (gnerally under 5 feet though)
Rainbow Boas (beautiful, generally docile, 5-7 feet, fairly slender)
Jungle Carpets (babies are sometimes nippy)
Dumeril's Boa (might be a bit heavy bodied)
Boa Constrictor (again, might be too heavy bodied)
