carrot greens?

el_toro Aug 03, 2003 03:03 PM

Hi-

My Saharan currently eats dandelion greens, mustard greens, and bok choy as the main part of his meals (in that order of favorites). I, too, cannot find a place around here - Salem OR - that sells turnip greens. At least they don't at this time of year. What about carrot greens? They eat the carrot part - are the tops nutritionally sound? I couldn't find them on the USDA database. I can always find these, and I'm getting concerned about finding dandys and mustards come wintertime.

Thanks!!

Yes, I'm pretty sure they're good and my uros and beardeds like them. Sometimes the health food store will even give them to me when they're starting to look a little dry, which doesn't bother the uros at all. Sometimes my uros seem to prefer their veggies a bit dried out. In the winter you can use frozen peas, carrots and green beans. I know Doug Dix uses them a lot. Start introducing them now a little at a time. They seem to especially love the peas and peas seem to put weight on them more than greens do. -Lucy
