Thermostate/heating question

railrider1920 Aug 03, 2006 09:02 AM

I hope that this is ok here. The housing section doesn't seem to get much traffic.

I was wondering about themostats to control the temp. I'd like one that will either:
1) Just keep the UTH at a constat temp better than a plain rheostate.
or
2) Keep it at a constant temp and then at night drop it down to a different constant temp.

What kinds will do these things?

I have heard the name Ranco mentioned before. In an ad on fauna, the person has Ranco, Johnson and Herpstat brands. Is one brand better than another? Their website is
http://www.mgreptiles.com/thermomain.html This isn't ment as a plug for their site, Just looking for info. I'd like to get a decent one, but would rather not pay an arm and a leg for it either (maybe a part of a finger lol).
Thanks,
Rob

If this topic has already been brought up (probably), can anyone
give me a link to the thread?
Thanks,
Rob

A biostat would work. External control, with a probe in the cage. Usually used in racks or numerous cages.
