food for thought perhaps?

King snake chameleon forum offered me the chance to own my own chameleon and succeed finally with it.Expierienced people over here offer you the chance to post a question and actually wait for the right answear/suggestion back,a kind of community that stands by their members guiding them slowly towards the right direction.I keep some other reptiles as well and when I try to post a thread regarding some simple question, rubbish is what I get back most of the times, even from people who have been in the hobby for a long time.
So whats the matter with althose people?I mean I am not an expert on all reptiles I keep but I know how a decent answear/question on a forum when I see it.
I am starting to think that it's chameleon's complex nature and biology that requires sensible people to keep up with it.Is this the reason perhaps that makes this forum so reliable and all the others not?
It has been a question for me for a long time but never thought of putting down before, some food for thought perhaps....
Thanks

A forum is only as good as the members who write. If the really experienced people don't take the time, are on other more active forums, or don't know about the forum, it won't be very helpful. I know I've posted questions about my Malaysian leaf frog to the frog and toad forums and gotten nothing back worth anything. All anyone on those forums seem to write about is how fat or cute their pacman is, or why it just died (after spending months in a 10 gal tank with dying moss, too much to eat, and bad water). I also think that cham keepers are more technically oriented because our setups require that we be more experienced with cage climates, lighting, with insects and live plant care, and with daily work than snakes or nocturnal herps.

I completely agree with you. This forum has by far been the most friendly forum I've experienced. I've been ridiculed more than once when asking questions on another forum, and I think that is just sad that some people feel they need to do that. I do hang out on other friendly forums, but nothing compares to you guys here at the Cham forum. Thanks all for making this place fun and informative!

OK this is what I was thinking my self,Carlton above mentioned it too.Chameleon's nature makes their captive management a difficult task.It requires skills, knowledge, expierience and a significant amount of intelligence that other reptiles don't require. This is why we get little reliable feedback from other reptile keepers.
So a big CHEERS to allthose who keep chameleons....

I agree 100%. I have alot of animals and have logged into many forums and chats...trust me when I say that this is the only one I come back to.

Thanks to everyone for your insight!!! And thanks to Tyler Stewart for helping me continue on with the chameleon legacy!
