two together

froggie4queen Aug 03, 2006 02:39 PM

Before anyone warns me about the dangers of placing two Pacman frogs together, I am well aware. This is my only question: have anyone of you tried to place to "very" equal in size Pacman frogs together without complications?..i.e. attacking one another. I would like to know if there are any successes.
And remember please...don't tell me about the dangers as I am just curious.
Thanks

while i have never tried two pacmans together, i do currently kepp two pixies together in a 29 gal long tank. one is about 4" and the other is about 3" and besides having to have two large water bowls in the tank, since the larger one won't tolerate the smaller one in the same bowl as him. though he is fine with the smaller one being in the tank and even feeding right along side him. most of the time it is the smaller one that causes a problem, like trying to eat the same mouse as the larger one. but all i do is try to keep them on opposite sides of the tank when hand feeding, otherwise they chase crickets in the tank without getting in any trouble. neither has tried to bite the other that i have seen and both are males.
hope this helps to answer your question, espically since pixies arer generally more aggressive and active than pacmans are.

Thanks for the info. That does help. I would think if the frogs are well fed, there would be less chance of an altercation. One Pacman is a little over a year and about 6 inches. The other is only 6 or 7 weeks old. When he reaches that size, I might try doubling them up in a large enclosure. All my other frogs have companions of the same breed and do very well. In fact, I had two Green Tree forgs together for 3 years when one of them died. The survivor would not eat and sat in the corner of the tank for several days till I bought him a friend. Now these two are always sitting together on a branch or plant and eating is not a problem.
I realize Pacman frogs are a little less friendly, but I still plan on trying this when and if the time presents itself.

When i used to have two pacman i put them in the same cage but i seperated them, the albino was alot larger in size the other was a green pacman he was bran new but when i could not find the green one on his own side i got worried so i checked the whole cage and found him burroed right next to the albino like they were friends or somthing i found this very strange but every time i went to feed the green pacman he was always right next to the albino this was a very wiered insodent but for some reason they never tried to eat eachother!

I currently have 5 Pacman frogs living together and they get along very well and have been together for almost a year. They are similiar in size although there are 2 smaller ones. I do also have 2 juvenile albino pacman in a seperate tank and 1 baby albino pacman in his own tank. Once they get bigger they will also be added to the larger tank with the other Pacman frogs. Yes that is right, that will be 8 Pacman frogs living together. I also have 4 Pixie frogs living together. 2 South Africans and 2 Tanzanian Pixie Frogs and they all live happily together as well. I have found that Australian White's Frogs also live nicely with the Pacman frogs. I am not sure why that is but I have 4 adults (2 females and 2 males) living with the 5 Pacman frogs and they have been in there for nearly a year. They all enjoy eating mice together and I have never seen a more well adjusted, happy community ever! I say go for it, but keep an eye open just in case. Good luck!
