Hi all i am just posting to ask a few questions , at the mo i have a spare 4 foot by 2 foot by 2 foot viv that i am converting into a charm tank and i was wondering could i keep a jacksons or a panther or a mellers charm in that size tank ?

Hi there,

When you say "tank", do you mean, a glass terrarium?

Melleri do best in the USA with at least partial screen enclosures. Glass disturbs those specimens that are stressed by the view of others (reflections). I suggest 260-gallon Reptariums with 6 mil plastic sheeting on one side, when it needs to retain humidity indoors. Melleri can keep their horn longer in Reptariums, too.

As for size, you might check out the Melleri Discovery site and read about caging and/or the caresheet there.

If you are new to chameleons, I would recommend that you start off with a veiled or panther. Jackson's have different requirements than veileds or panthers and Mellers are even more difficult for a beginer to keep.

Before you decide to keep any chameleons, read and learn. They are not as easy as many other lizards to keep in captivity. Here are some sites that you might read....

i am not a beginer i have been keeping charms now for about a year and i have just had my 2 yemins but the male died ; ; so i know the requiments for most charms but i was just trying to get your opinon , but thanks for posting them website for mee ^^
