Here's a pic of one of my 06 candycanes.The parents are an orange male and a bright red/orange female,the parents have the "classic" pattern but,this one looks different.Kinda aztecish huh? jeff

Nice looking snake with an interesting pattern, but it looks more like a reverse okeetee than a candycane.

I just think baby orange candy canes have a reverse okeetee look to them.

I have to agree but,I've never bred rev. okies & had never noticed.

I haven't bred okeetees either, reverse or otherwise. Heck I hardly have bred orange candy canes. Still working with my first clutch! But this guy definately looks like a reverse okeetee, though I am 100% sure hes going to be a full blooded candycane.

I tell them their "candies" are in NO WAY actually a candycane........and they make fun of the fact that my one finger types faster than the other at times.........

........and it's still not an aztec, nor a candy..

I have to admit this critter does look like a rev. okeetee but,here's the parents.

Those are 2 very nice candycanes, but candycane parents don't guarantee candycane babies. You never know how much the red in the ground color will increase as they age, so at this age you can't be sure how it will turn out. Good luck, and keep us posted on it progress.

I know what you mean,My older female(retired) breeder got right much red in her ground color as she got older. Thanks! jeff

Just because the parents might be candycane, doesn't make the offspring candycane! Time will tell.

This all makes sense because the pair I have could have had parents or even siblings that don't appear candycane at all.Right? Thanks!, jeff

I'm no guru, But i think we all would agree the CC is a modified look. So, those genes to fall back in the look would still be there. I also hear you can not really tell for a year or so as they change quite a bit.

Very cool snake, PERIOD. Makes be wonder if you can use that guy in a project to get aztec candy canes. Then my mind just has to wonder to a striped cane cane.

Very neat snake. I hope it's a male. So you can use it on main female candy canes.
