Head twitching and high pitch wheezing.

ladymadrox Aug 03, 2006 08:04 PM

I just recentley aquired my female burmese. Shes about 7 feet and she is eating like a monster. The only thing that concerns me is the fact that every once in a while her head will do this weird twitchy/shakey motion. could that be neurological? or does she just have a twitch?
also every once in a while she will make this high pitch wheezing noise from her nostrils. is that signs of respitory illness?

please some one let me know. I wanna know if I should bring her to a vet.

The head twitch is somewhat normal, most burms I've ever had do this, shouldn't be anything to worry about. Now the wheezing might be something to be concerned about, if in doubt, best advice is go to the vet. Is your snake "hissy"? In other words, when you handle her does she hiss regularly at you? Do you see any bubbles coming from her nose?

I havent seen any bubbles, but I have heard her make hissy noises when I handel her. My friend says its just heavy breathing because shes a large snake. I dunno she doesnt make the noises all the time. Im probally going to bring her for a check up at the vet.

You may be catching it early. Mine had one just a couple months ago and if you press down on its head you can see if bubbles come out. Also when she opened up her mouth to yawn she had some mucus in there, but she is all good.

But if you think it may be getting one just turn the heat up a little bit and keep it consistent. Mine seem to clear up pretty quick.

The heavy breathing is normal or the his, you can hear it. It sounds like bubbles when she is hissing. Its different.
