Head twitching and high pitch wheezing.

ladymadrox Aug 03, 2006 08:08 PM

I just recentley aquired my female burmese. Shes about 7 feet and she is eating like a monster. The only thing that concerns me is the fact that every once in a while her head will do this weird twitchy/shakey motion. could that be neurological? or does she just have a twitch?
also every once in a while she will make this high pitch wheezing noise from her nostrils. is that signs of respitory illness?

please some one let me know. I wanna know if I should bring her to a vet.

Since, nobody has answered you, I would say that it may be an URI and possibly IBD; doesn't sound like crypto though. Make sure your cage temps are in the upper range for Burmese pythons; especially during recovery.

If it was my snake, it would go to a qualified vet who can check for those type of problems in reptiles.

I as well, agree that it would be best to see a vet. I cannot visualize the "twitch" you describe, so it might be minor, or major. The wheezing again, could be scar tissue from a previous problem, or a major problem. A hands on exam is really the only way to help you and your snake

Good luck, www.arav.com if you need a vet
