What type of Lizard to buy

shaun59 Aug 03, 2006 08:15 PM

Hi, I have a question. I just bought an aquarium at a garage sale for. It is the octagon style, 30-40 gallon, about 3 feet tall and 18 in. wide. It came with a lid with a uvb light in it, a waterfall, cage carpet, thermometers, heat pad, and everything else I need to get started. My question is what type of lizard to get for it. What would be a good fit in a tank that size? Thanks for any help.

A trio of anoles or house geckos or fence lizards. Your temp gradient will have to be vertical so you want climbers that don't get too big or want too too hot.
I kept tree frogs in my 37 hex.

Anoles are a lot of fun, they are very active and you can literally observe their communication, they dont grow very big but if this is your choice be sure you dont get two males, they can be quite fierce.

Take a look at the anole forum they're cuties, but be aware they arent suitable for handling
