these are some pics of my first clutch of cal kings ever.thanks for looking. i was trying for a group of wide striped cals. the parents are high white and showed signs of this trait. i got one wide stripe out of the group and i will breed it to another high white wide stripe i have that is an 04 if it sexes out as a male. what i want is to see a solid white cal king with a big fat black stripe down its back.

another from the cluth above
second pic is of one of seven albinos that hatched out over the weekend they all look the same
the third is a pueblan milk that hatched out last week 1 of 2.
i got the parents from Dr. John Rossi and breed them as a joke.
i was on the phone with a friend and he said i should breed them. i told my friend that i had not prepped them for breeding. he said ow they will breed. and you see... they will breed lol.
the number one thing i have learned from keeping snakes this year is to just go with what you think might work. you may screw up big time. but you will learn. i just put my eggs on a shelf and left them alone. i checked them every week and made sure they were not drying up. i did loose some eggs because i had too many holes on the side of two boxes allowing more air and that dryed out some very fast. i lost two whole clutches due to that leason. i know there are care sheets and books that can spell out step by step how to do this(i have read them) but where is the fun in that. when is the last time you picked up a reptile book that told you something that the book next to it didn't say. companies keep marketing this and that for reptiles and getting newbies (like me)to the hobby to buy stupid stuff that they would have never needed.soon they will be selling sweaters for reptiles. don't know how i got on a rant sorry i was just thinking out loud hehe thanks for looking.

ow yeah another leason i learned- if it aint at wal mart or home depot your snakes don't need it. $30.00 for a stick to go in you snake cage. man i would like to be there when some one paid that much for a stick cause i would like to kick em in the butt as they left the store. hehehe

The snake may not need it, but if you keep your snakes in a presentation cage - the more expensive hides and water dishes can be more pleasing to the eye to look at. And there is nothing wrong that, as long as the form does not get in way of the function.

If you buy something expensive for your snake while your kid has worn out sneakers, maybe you need your head examined. But there is nothing wrong with paying more for hides etc. that are pleasing to the buyer - just like there is nothing wrong with paying more for snakes that have patterns/colours more pleasing to the buyer.
