My new dumpy started croaking, why do they do that? Is it a male thing or a territorial thing or is he looking for another dumpy?

Thanks Dawn
its likely both, males croak when thier in a good mood, when they want a mate,or when they simply want to tell anyone else around that this is "thier" tank
Our White's croaks almost everynight about 5 minutes after the lights go out and the air conditioner goes on. It's a very loud call you can hear throughout the house, starting softly with a big crescendo. Being theatrical people, my husband and daughter, call back to him "sing my angel of music, sing!" (From Phantom of the Opera). It's a ritual!
My Bubba always croaks when he hears me walk around the house. Its like his way of saying, "Hello Momma!"
