tiny, emaciated baby

deetu Aug 04, 2006 11:44 AM

I work in a pet store and our reptile distributor sent these tiny babies. (this makes us soo mad but at least now they have a bit of a fighting chance) One is strong, looks good, the other two really need care. One is so weak with a bent tail, I'm trying hard to get them back.

I have been force feeding pellets soaked in Pedialite. I usually do a little about 5 to 6 times a day. (yes I have saved some in the past this way) I put a little dragon vitamins in (don't want to over do it) but don't have just calcium yet for the little guy. They gave me baby food, chicken, that I thought I would try inbetween.

The little guy had his head up before, which I take as a good sign because I had trouble getting him to stay awake long enough to swallow and was actually surprised that he was still alive this morning.

Does anyone have any other suggestions that may help me save these two little guys? Anything would be appreciated. (I'm sure there is information if I look but I can never get the search engine to work right for me. so thank you if you are repeating yourself)

Hi,

If you are in a pet store, buy a bottle of Exo-Terra Electrolize. Follow the instructions for amounts, but use that in their warm soaking water. The chicken baby food mixed with a bit of fruit baby food and thinned with water, then dribbled from a dropper onto their nose usually gets them to licking. If not... well, they may be too weak to eat.

Best of luck,
Morgana
