O/T San Esteban Island chuckwalla

PHEve Aug 04, 2006 01:23 PM

Or S. Varius Piebald chuckwalla, meaning speckled/ mottled
Anyway isn't she just MAGNIFICENT, Gosh these are gorgeous chuckwallas.

I named her Dapple, my good friend and chucker pal Tom Greb asked a couple weeks ago if I would like to give her a home, of course I did not have to think very long or hard, LOL before I said YES AND HOW SOON, hehhehhee.

Unfortunitely these beautiful lizards are on the indangered list
they are spectacular , awesome color and they are the biggest of the chuckwalla family and grow to 24 inches and weigh 4 ibs.

If they are on the indangered list, you should reconsider sending it to a more suitable climate them that high altitude alpine forest you have it in.

Wow, she's pretty! Your lizards don't try to run off when they go outside?

Nice big salads and plenty of kisses, LOL She is a bit skittish, I was right there with my hand near her A few months she will be a lap chuck, hehehhee.

With alot of handling these guys get pretty COOL, lots of personality and attitude to boot.

Wow, how lucky you are to have that lovely lizard.

I guess breeding them is probably out of the question since they're endangered, huh?

No, actually breeding projects are taking place, and Maybe down the line I too can take part in it, what an HONOR it would be to help keep these awesome lizards around along time

You need documentation/papers to have them , Tom is sending it all to me, I'm thrilled to have her.

Well the powers that be could not possibly select a better candidate to help perpetuate the breed. It would be very cool if you were able to participate!
