OT pic for those who like red.......

LeeBarrie Aug 04, 2006 10:31 PM

This is an Elaphe porphyracea laticincta showing it's juvie coloration. The orange will turn bright red also. I know some of you aren't really colubrid fans but these guys are pretty tough not to like. Kinda bitey & fast but I'm pretty happy with them. Just picked them up today & thought I'd share.

I love colubrids but I am selling all of mine right now except one Cribo and a Hognose. Too much crap to put up with and I just love my Boas and Crotes and I need all the space I can get. Those sure are nice though, nice pick up!!!

Aside from the intense color, the pattern on the lower half of the body is very cool. Adam

I have no clue what the common name is. I'm sure there probably is one but I have never seen it.

Lee,
...That is a pretty snake. Does that subspecies lose the banding or does the color change as they grow? For those people who like red snakes that are also Boas I am posting this PIC of one of my Isla Marajo Rainbow Boas, Epicrates cenchria barbouri

From the few pics I have found they end up red on red with pencil thin black bands sometimes bordered with thin yellow. I've always liked your barbouri. Are you going to bring any to daytona this year? I'll definately find your table at some point in time & say hi.

Once they get the full adult coloration.
