Growth rate of bull snakes

nechushtan Aug 03, 2003 04:43 PM

Just curious if anyone knows the average growth rate of bullsnakes. We just got our first Albino Whitesided (snow) and she's two months old and about 19" we're wondering what we can expect over the next couple years and about how old she will be when she has reached full size.

Bull snakes are really variable in size and of course color from different areas of the country. The albino white sided animals we work with have heavy south texas influence and get pretty big. The will average 6 1/2 - 7 1/2' and very heavy as adults. The girth of an adult bull is probally the most impressive thing about them. As yearlings with weekly feeding you can expect 3 - 3 1/2' and a mature snake in lehgth and body girth at around 4 - 5 years old with a little length added yearly after about the 6' mark.

Hope that helps,

Thanks John,
The snake I'm referring to is actually one I just got from you so the info is perfectly relevant.

Well hello Ron,

Hope you are enjoying the bull. The female that produced that snake is 6'9" and the male is a little over 7' and about as big around as a good sized navel orange. If that helps for reference.

Good Luck and stay in touch,
