CB vs CBB

CB means Captive Born, or in the gtp world it means FARMED IMPORT, BUYUER BEWARE!! Be prepared to take a risk and lose your money. These are NOT good investments for first time green tree python owners.

I am sad everytime I read a post by someone like PythonPete that will no longer consider a gtp because his first experience was a bad one.

Purchase from the breeder, someone that will give you assistance as your new babies grow up. Healthy adult gtps are a piece of cake to care for.

I agree. It's one of those unwritten "rules" that should never be broken but the temptation of saving a couple of hundred dollars results in total disaster for so many unwilling to heed the advice. The More Complete Chondro by Greg Maxwell steered me in the right direction before I seriously entertained the idea of trying to raise one. The point could not be overstated enough. Another thing that disturbs me is how people refuse to take their animals to a qualified vet because they dont want to spend the money. If your mother was limping on the floor would you leave her there because you didn't want to spend the money? As for people chirping they don't live near one or there is none in their area then #1. Either move closer to one if you want a chondro or #2. Don't get involved with it in the first place. If you are unwilling to research, find a good vet, etc. before you throw down $500 on a serpent then you are simply asking for disappointment. I am in no way trying to be rude or seem like a know-it-all because I am new to chondro keeping nor am I addressing this message at any one in particular but it does seem to be somewhat of a recurring theme around chondros.
