MY Yellow headed geckos egg hatched :D

Buddy25 Aug 05, 2006 10:59 AM

My gonatodes(yellow headed gecko's) egg hatched. I came ho mto a little baby sunnin himself on his parents coconut shell.

I'm exctatic. He's about an inch or so. I seperated him from his/her parents. And put him in a small critter keeper, with moist paper towel substrate and sticks and plastic plants to climb on, and then put the keeper into his parents cage, for warmth).

What else do I need to do. I'm assuming I'll need to buy some flightless fruit flies, or tiny pinheads. How often should I feed the little guy, and how often? How often should I put calcium, calcium with D3, or vitamin supplement on his crix/flies?

Thank-you Any other imput or advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks again!

I'd stick with small crickets dusted with calcium/vitamin supplement. You can feed him/her once a day with as many crickets as he will eat in one serving. He probably won't eat until his first shed though, which may take a week from the day he hatched. Good luck, and give him a moist box, as well as other hides for him to feel secure in. I find that the younger geckos are more aggresive; both towards eating, and towards humans. hope this helps a little.
