I bought a pair (1.1) of baby splendidas from Don Shores in the fall of 2004 and bred them this year at 18 months. She laid 6 eggs, all hatched and she produced 2 female albinos and 2.2 possible hets.

These are straight out-of-the-egg pics. Once they shed they should start showing the yellow better.

Who did those albino splendidas originate from? As far as I know there is only one true strain.
The original wild-caught came from New Mexico. Not sure on the specifics.
These are pure, pure and simple.

"Not sure on the specifics."
Well I have been searching for some time on a good backround on these and still none.
kerby, awesome hatchlings,i have an 05 pair of albinos from don and just today i sent payment to him for 1.2 axantic splendida's.don shores is one of the good guys for sure.
rainer,i've been told there's two strains of albino splendida, the new mexico ones that don has and a texas strain that a guy from texas has and sold to ben seigel.TWH
I'm getting 1.1 of the axanthic/anery.

All you have to do is ask Don Shores, he will tell you.
Kerby...
I have not asked him directly but I have heard from others what the story is. Everytime I hear what the history is the whole thing crumbles. I would think that since these are not that prevalent on the market people would have a better acccount as to there validity .
Well, perhaps just ask him about it in Daytona.
Take care!

I am not trying to make enemies with Don. I already know the history. I was wondering of someone else had more info that may have supported or contracdicted it.
That is cool!! I didn't know if you had been able to talk with him about it or not, so that is why I suggested going to the source. Please share on the forum if you are able to find out anything else.
Take care!

I'd love to see the axanthic splendida.
I've googled his name and can't find anything.
Thanks

I generally prefer "normal" coloration to albino myself, although, I must admit I have completely fallen in love with the albino cal king I just aquired.
