Essentially, I have an urgent problem with one of my White’s here.

The story is as follows:
While moving from my apartment, I had a couple days where I had no place to live and I had to take my frogs (2 Whites and an African Clawed) to a friend’s house for a couple days while I returned home for a weekend. I put the Whites in a tank with a water bowl and put the Clawed Frog in a separate tank with water. My friend and his girlfriend promised to feed them over the two days. Though he didn’t tell me until later, my larger tree frog (who is a notoriously chubby frog) had some swelling on his left side.
Upon returning, I took them to my new house, cleaned their tank, and put some fresh (treated) water in the tank. Later that night, I noticed that the larger frog’s left side was rather withered looking, and he seemed to have lost some weight. His left side had a wrinkled look to it and the greenish top of his skin seemed to hang over his side, whereas the green color usually fades into their white underbellies.
I got some kind of Sulfa block that was supposed to help out and I put it in the water in the tank, seeing as the frogs like to dip in there over the day. I had assumed it was a small bacterial infection or something of the sort until the other night.
I decided to use a light hydrogen-peroxide rub (heavily diluted) and a first-aide solvent to bathe him. The side of his stomach (the green part) seemed to wipe off a bit when I cleaned it. Worried, I pulled it up to see that it was hardly attached to his body (!) as though it were just a loose flap of skin. Underneath, I could see a translucent clear-ish white skin and what looked to be red veins or something. I tried to look closer, but my stomach wouldn’t have much of it. I was so immediately worried I could’ve nearly cried!
He seems to be slightly more lethargic than he once was, but he still moves around alright. I know I at least saw him eat a cricket a couple days ago, but I can’t account for his diet very well, either.
It’s difficult to describe, but it almost looks like the side of his stomach could’ve “blown-out” for lack of a better phrase. I don’t know what to do, and neither does any immediate authority. As it stands, I’m running out of money, but I want desperately for him to be okay. If anyone can help, or offer any advice, I’d really appreciate it. I don’t know what to do or what not to do, but I’m desperate for help.
He’s really held on, and he looks a bit healthier day by day, but his side doesn’t seem to be healing.

Sorry for the long post. Hopefully someone here can help…

Well, if you haven't already done it, I would recomend to move the frog to a smaller tank with paper towel substrate and a water dish. Keep it simple, keep it clean.

Next, see a vet. It sounds a bit more serious than the over the counter fix really. If you can't see one, there are some that you can contact online. I can never remember his name though, I know TimOsborne knows it?

Other than that, I"m sorry about your frog.

I think my frog owns a megaphone....

I've been bathing him in a sterile first-aid mix with water as well as dabbing him with a diluted hydrogen-peroxide solution where his sore is. After checking again today, he seems to look a bit better (the wound is much more closed than previously) and he's more active. I may yet try to find an easier diet for him as crickets are a bit to fast for him at times.
I called a vet and the soonest I can get in would be Monday or Tuesday, ehich is worrisome. There's the option of scheduling an emergency appointment, but I wouldn't have the amphibian doctor and it would literally break the bank for me. This puts me in an awful position, seeing as he is poised to cost about as much as half a month's rent for me to treat immediately.
I intend on trying to isolate him, and hopefully that should help.

I would be concerned about using this peroxide solution. You should try to get the Melafix and use it at half strength. Hopefully someone on the other board will get back to you with the exact directions, or you could try doing a search on "melafix" it would likely have been posted by Hoppy.

As far as the crickets, moving him to a separate small tank, even a decent size cricket sized keeper will work, keeping it a bit warmer than usual and maybe cover part with a towel for darkness. You can (I've heard)clip the crickets legs so they cant jump or walk fast (it is kinda gross, but I don't know what to tell you).

Good luck.

You can put wet paper towels on the bottom and a small dish for soaking.

Last night I chopped off the legs of a couple crickets and my frog ate both of them with reasonable ease. He then managed to hop around a bit before resting under a hollowed-out half of a log. His skin also seems to be healing where previously it was open. His side is still visibly ill looking, but I am cautiously optimistic.

Also: he has occasional wart-like bumps that come and go, but one seems to have left a bit of a hole on the side of his back that worries me a little. I am eager to try out the melafix, but I won't be able to make it to a petstore until sometime tomorrow.

Just wondering how it goes? I saw the melafix instructions bumped up on the other board, hope they help.

Sorry. I should’ve posted this a couple weeks ago.

My frog has made an almost full recovery. After trying a the melafix, along with my other ideas, as well as crippling crickets for him... well, he’s pretty much healed up. His wound is closed, but the skin healed in a slightly uneven fashion.
I also went to a vet, who provided me with no information that was new or helpful to me (though he billed me just the same).

I’m just happy to say that, indeed, he’s okay and the family- Butcher, Baker, & Candlestickmaker- remain very happy and healthy together.

I’m still not sure what happened but both the frogs and I are back to a regular sleep cycle (worries about pets is something that really keeps me up at night) and we’re all doing well.

Thanks everyone for your help!!!
