New Burm owner - Please Help

omnifelpur Aug 05, 2006 02:28 PM

Good day! I've got an albino burm that I've had for a few weeks now (I've posted here before about this) but I've noticed that over time his belly scales are getting dry and flaking a little at the ends. I even found a couple that had a clear film (perhaps skin that didn't shed the last time?) that peeled off without hurting the scale beneith. I don't know if he had a terrible last shed, or if I don't have enough humidity or if it's a infection. Seems to only be the first few feet of belly scales, he's about 7ft and otherwise very active and healthy. Should I soak him more often or increase the humidity by squirting some water mist into the enclosure every day? I use aspen shavings as bedding and keep the enclosure very clean and have owned a boa for 3 years and never had this problem with her (although the scales are different between the two snakes). Any advice would be appriciated, I didn't want to take him to the vet for a stupid fear that might not end up being anything but at the same time I don't want to ignore a potential health issue.

Thanks!
