Looks to me like a paradox albino bullfrog. I have never seen the paradox trait in a bullfrog but have seen pics of it in red tail boas. Its an ablino where the normal look kind of bleeds through in some areas. Is it a pic you found or took yourself? If by you, where did you take it? Thats a pretty cool frog.... Jon

That picture was taken by staff at the Virginia Living Museum located in Newport News, Virginia. I am currently on staff in the herpetology department where we cared for this animal in captivity for a few months. It has since been released to the spot where it was found.

If anyone has any further questions or comments, please email me at UaruNick@yahoo.com

I also have several other several other photos of this particular animal. Please be sure to give credit if the pics are re-used.

Thanks,

Nick

Maybe you found a Piedball. That's where nearly all the color and pattern is gone (usually white, but in a frog it could be light yellow), except in random splotches. Paradox albinos have a few spots here and there, and in all the various pictures of them I've seen, the spots are small.

In any case, it's a neat looking frog.

For future reference the word is piebald. Have never heard the word paradox applied to a semi albino. is this a normal term or not. Paradox confuses with the species: paradox frog of central America

Paradox albinos occur somewhat regularly in snake species, and occasionally in some lizards. It's when the animal is albino, but has small patches of normal or near normal color and pattern, hence the paradox. The albinism gene pair gets turned off, or partially turned off in these small areas.

Pardox albino, in this case, means a color/patern mutation. It's like saying a woma ball python. It's a morph of a ball python, not a type of woma python or a hybrid between a woma and a ball python. It's a cool looking mutation in a ball python.

In any case, it's a neat looking frog, whatever you want to call it.

will guess your frog is missing the blue pigment ,blue + yellow = green
this guy is missing the yellow pigment thus he is blue
and I am looking for a female common green frog that is blue , so if you have one let me know thanks
