Female spurs

maizeysdad Aug 06, 2006 11:56 AM

I know that probing is the reliable way to go.

I am curious about the spurs on your confirmed females. How prominant are they? Do you have to really search for them,? Are they readilly noticable, but smaller than males?

Give me the skinny on spurs on a female.

Thanks

My females have spurs that go from almost nonexistant to larger than some of my males. I would never use spurs to sex a snake but I do use them to pick out probable females from petshops. I then probe them when I get home to se what I've got. I have had pretty good luck with it. But I also do not chose borderline animals, only those with extremely small spurs.

BTW I recently took in a 05' that I would have sworn to be a male based on it's spurs. But when I probed it it turned out to be a female. I was happy about that.
