How long should I wait for it to eat?

tomorrow264 Aug 03, 2003 05:59 PM

On Thursday I caught a baby Garter snake in my Moms yard and brought it home to avoid my step dad from killing it. I have it in a ten gallon aquarium and the temp is about 75 degrees. So far it has not eaten. My plans are to hang on to it and if it doesnt eat release in my yard and hope for the best. How long should I wait to see if it decides to eat? Thanks.

Has it eaten yet (Monday)? What have you tried to feed it? If you have not tried tiny bits of bite-sized fish, give that a try.
If it does not eat by today or tomorrow, I would let it go as close to where you found it as you safely can. If you can't release it in the exact same location, try to do so within less than a few hundred yards. Good luck with the little guy. Duffy

No it hasn't eaten yet, but it did poop. I have given it earth worms, millipedes, crickets, wax worms. I'll try the fish tomorrow. It has been pretty active however, I just went to check on it and it was swimming around in the water dish. If it doesnt eat tomorrow I'm gonna let it go. Thanks for the imput.
