Is this a good tank setup for my babies?

Star_Of_Life Aug 06, 2006 07:44 PM

Sorry another annoying question. I wasn't expecting babies anytime soon but now that they're here I want the best for them. This is what I got set up for my 4 very tiny neonatal wandering garter babies: 5.5 gallon tank, T-Rex Jungle bed substrate, 2 hollow coconut homes on each side of the tank, one long flat water bowl in between the coconuts, 1 appropriately sized UTH on one side (not plugged in yet, and one digital thermometer/hygrometer just above the substrate on the side with the heater (would have one on the other side but couldn't afford it this week ). Right now without any power to the heater it reads 75 degrees and 80% humidity. I think the humidity is too high. Am I right? What can I do to fix any errors? Any ideas to add to this set up?

You wasnt as little humidity as possible in their cage. I would recommend a different substrate...paper towels or newspaper. this prevents them ingesting any substrate when eating fish or worms....wet food such as that will cause the substrate to stick to it. That could cause blockages and death on the little fellas (and girls). Got any pics?? One of my 2 gravid wanderings had babies today. She had 13, but 1 died. I will get pics posted soon!!
