I just love melanistic eastern hogs. Do you know how old he is?

Is he feeding on amphibs or have you converted him to mice? What and how often is he feeding?

He is fully converted to unscented mice and will eat as much as I let him!! Right now I have been trying to get a good weight on him, so he has been getting 2 small adult mice a week (One on Monday and one on Friday) He is a GREAT feeder, and gentle as well, eating out of my hand. Here is another pic I took today, he only does this for cage maintaince. No hissing, just hoods up. I just put my finger on the top of his head and he stops....quite funny really.

Hey ,nice eastern!,Here's my favorite hog,he's from N.C.This pic was taken right after he ate his first rat pup.

Beautiful animal!! I have one that looks black, but when he eats or hoods up you can see orange. It is quite neat.

He looks so content! Hopefully he will continue to enjoy his rat pup meals.
