Georgia Backyard Tortoises

Buzztail1 Aug 06, 2006 10:49 PM

I live in southern Georgia and my wife and I keep sulcatas outdoors except in the winter. I am preparing to fix up their pen so that they can stay out all year long. Our tortoises have thrived and are doing well. It is almost time for their annual size comparison picture. I think that the biggest drawback to sulcatas is that people underestimate their adult size.
Anyway, here are some pics from over the years.

Their enclosure after 5 years of occupancy:

They start out so tiny:

And get quite big:

This year I will be hanging a pig blanket from the "ceiling" of their shed to enable them to stay out all winter. I will post how that goes once I get home and get to work on it.
