Finally!!! Day 117.....

pweaver Aug 07, 2006 08:00 AM

I thought these guys were never going to hatch out. I only have 4 eggs, but so far 2 have hatched and the others are pipping.

The black guy is still connected to the egg. Would you recommend snipping the connection or just letting it be?

I would say let it be. They are pretty quick on absorbing their cord or the sac falling off....Again Congrats!!!

They look sweet, congratulations! I agree with Brett, I'd leave that one alone for a couple of days.

Good luck with them!

Now you know why most of us old timers are bald! ;0)
Great photo and I am certain those are some big and fat babies, especially after lounging about and taking in all those nutrients for darn near three months!
I too would leave the umbilicus alone for a couple of days, but keep it on slightly moistened, clean paper towels. Should it not separate in a couple of days, clamp twos sides of the umbilicus with small forceps and cut in between them, as to keep blodd loss to a minimum…

Much congratulation,

Jeff

Congrats, nice looking babies.

I ended up with 3 of the 4 eggs hatching. Two were reds and one was a black phase. The fourth egg had slit this morning but didn't make any progress during the day. So I slit it open a bit and found a beautiful red phase dead in the egg. It's spine was deformed somewhat near it's tail even though I incubated at 75 degrees without any temp spikes occuring. Oh well, that's how it goes in the world of snakes. Can't complain with 3 beautiful babies!
