What is this corn snake?

HerpZillA Aug 07, 2006 06:01 PM

First let me apologize for the poor pictures. I just took them to show someone how fat this girl was. I may have better pics later in the week. At first I thought it was a poor sunglow or amel as it has a little white on the saddles. But I have come across a few amel bloodreds with the same colors, and on occasion that slight white ring.

Any guesses are appreciated.

P.s. colors are better in person, poor tone due to bad lighting.

Thanks

Tom

That thing is FAT! I would call it an amel, though better pics would be more decisive.

We have her on a diet. I'm trying to add a thread mill to the cage, but thats a tough one lol.

She is a beast!

Holy geeze, that girl is huge! Glad she's with someone who knows how to take care of her now.

Colorwise, she looks exactly like my normal. He has just the faintest tinges of black around his saddles (about a quarter of a scale's worth and that only on half of the border scales) and I couldn't tell from the pics if yours had those or not. Post some more pictures when you get them.

Have fun with her!

Looks like a fat amel.
I have an amel that might be an amel blood. I have to prove it out next year. Here are her pics

Except mine is obese. She has been on a diet. I wanted to test her too. I figured babies would vary a lot between outcross to fair looking bloodreds. Just my guess. if she had bloodred in her. Mine even has the small white circles.

Man I wish I had kept all the babies my one female produced.

Oh well, I need to hunt down some deals on bloodreds.

hey tom,
i have one just like both of those!!! well he was like those when i got him.
mine came from a college kid who just kept feeding it everytime someone wanted to see it eat. when i got him he was as big around as a campbell soup can. when he would turn in the small tank the kid had him in his scales would bend and eventually break of. i had to basically starve him for about 8 months to get him down to size. ive had him for 4 years now and his scales still have some scarring.
here is a pic of him now, his name is fluffy

hes just under 5 ft

I'm feeding her about once a month, a small mouse. Just to keep the stomach working. She's to out of shape to breed. But i thought if i took her out and let her roam a lot, maybe by spring without a brumation period she'd be in much better shape? I'm not sure how many people have tried to shape up a snake to breed lol.

She has a lost a little mass. She may sell well before I have a chance to think about breeding her. I was just curious about what people thought she was.

This will get tougher in years to come as we get 2-3 ways to get to the same look. And like this one, someone walks in and just says I have a snake i do not want anymore. "What kind is it?" A big one!

SIGH. I wish I could tape some of my conversations.
