Question

pawsfoot Aug 07, 2006 06:22 PM

So basically I wanted to know about this whole fat tail thing? Are they born with bigger tails or does it come with time if they are kept in proper diet and temps and all that stuff? Also I have pictures of my babies but I'm so clueless as to how to post them on here. Also what about egg binding? Is it possible in leos or what? Sorry for all the questions.

They are born with skinny tails but once they reach about 20 grams in weight, if they are healthy and kept in ideal conditions, they will start to deposite fat in their tails, bellies, and under arms.

Once you have them hosted on a site you can post them by inserting the images URL in the section below where you type before clicking post message

Egg binding can happen to any reptile that lays eggs. If environmental conditions or anatomy prohibits the female from laying her eggs they will be retained, aka egg binding.

Thanks I was kinda worried that they were sick since their tails were still skinny, but they are only 2 months and I don't think they are 20 grams yet.

Because my little baby is a bit over a month old and she weighs 10.3 grams. But her tail is becoming really chunky already.

You may want to take their poo to a vet, just in case, if the tails are very skinny. Do you have a picture?

I just posted some pics up at the top of this page under the subject some pics. Their poo is normal and it's already been to a vet and he took care of my igg for about 12 yrs so I trust him when he says everything looks fine. I'm just a very overprotective mommy. I want to make sure they are perfect. HAHA. Just paranoid. Thanks for the info anyway. By the way. I'm a horrible picture taker. They aren't the best pics. I have been trying to do better but I just can't seem to do it.
