I have a male 3 year old...he used to eat f/t weener mice from frozen rodent. However, lately he will only eat fuzzies. I have offered him weeners but he turns his nose up...and when I show him a fuzzie its a whole diffrent story. He easly downs 5 fuz a week...so the question is...why. Could he have goten scared when the ate the last weener mouse as I don't think he was able to breath well. He is 4 feet so he should be large enough to eat a full grown mouse but I don't think that is the case for him. Any ideas as to why?

I have a bunch of yearling colobrids that are doing the same thing. As a matter of fact, a bunch of them ate f/t adult mice last week, had bowel movements and are "looking" for more chow today. A bunch of them are in no mood for mice this week ~ so my garbage disposal Everglades Rat is getting the extra thawed mice.

I am gonna wait a couple of days and go back down to hoppers for all of the picky eaters.

Glad I am not the only one with this issue!

I think that these snakes perfer to take smaller mice. I know that they have a glotis..but quite frankly...I don't think they are equipt to handle a big meal in relation to their head like a boid. In the wild they eat small wild mice, snakes, lizards, etc. I have a feeling that the "size of mouse = girth" is not true in many snakes.
