UVB question

FunkyRes Aug 07, 2006 08:01 PM

A couple of days ago, by UVB light went out.
It's 26" tube kind in a 30" aquarium hood.

I bought another bulb today, but it still will not go on.
I noticed there is another user replaceable part, labeled "FS-22 H Starter"

Are those common item to go out? Is that the probable cause, or is it best to just buy a new hood?

Well, that did it - I had a starter in another fixture I'm not using (the housing is cracked, it got stepped on) and she lit right up.

So I guess those do go bad.

starters do go out fairly often, fortunately any large fish supply store and hardware stores carry them for vary cheap. your best bet is to just stock up on them so you can just put in another one if it goes out, and you dont have to wait to run to the store. just make sure you get the right kind, there are numbers on the side. hehe, i have made that mistake a few times.
