new to frogs.. how am i doing?

sweetmamagirl Aug 08, 2006 09:39 AM

hello people; recently a neighbor moved out and left behind a frog in a tank on thier balcony. I gave them a couple days to see if they were coming back, when they didn't i 'rescued' it.

After some research i discovered it's a native frog a Pacific Tree Frog (or Pacific Chorus Frog depending on your source) which means its Wild Caught. I have some friends who recomend releasing it but i am unsure because i don't know how long it's been captive and where it was caught.

For now i have re-done the 29g tank it was in and now it has lots of live plants (which has really helped humidity i'll probably only have to mist once a day now) STERILISED wood and rocks (the previous decorations looked as though they had never been cleaned) and a water dish without sharp edges.

He/She eats very well and dealt ok with my handling it (for tank cleaning). It seems quite active and i think it's healthy.

Now i am looking for opinions on keeping it or not and any recomendations/comments on it's care. thnx for reading through this all and see yall soon (sorry no pics my digicam aint working)..

Cool that you saved this guy. Basically keeping them warm, wet and fed is the jist of it. There are lots of care sheets on the net, find a good one and go to it.
