Though i have no personal experience with their enclosures i do know quite a few keepers/breeders who use them with great sucess.

Given they are thin, i would suggest having a heated room. You can also have them put a solid top on the enclosure for you so you can put a heat panel inside.

The room it will be in will always be at least 72f at all times. I plan to use a heat lamp on the top screen like I see them being used on their web site. I will call the company and see what they have to say on the issue of heat.

CeeTee -

We have my husband's subadult GTP female in a 20x20x20 BARRs cage. We got the cover for the screen top. Initially I had ideas about putting a UTH on the back wall of the cage since the snake is always on the perch, but the side plastic insulates very well and not much heat got through, so what I wound up doing was drilling a hole and putting heat cable in the cage all along the ceiling (of course on a thermostat!), which works like a charm. I think the bottom (floor) is thinner plastic, since most people put UTHs.. well, UNDER the cage.. heh. The cage's adjustable air vents are VERY nice and the snake has not had a problem shed since we put her in this cage. We also got the branch mounts that BARRs offers and they work like a charm with silicone to glue them to the walls.

Hope this helps, I really like the cage and think the snake does too.

Just read your second post. If you do decide to use a heat lamp, get the plastic cover for the vent, and make sure the heat lamp is the same size as the pop-out circle in the cover. If you do use a heat lamp, you MAY have the cage be too dry and have problem sheds. If you don't get the vent cover with the pop-out for the lamp and just put a lamp on the open screen, you will DEFINITELY lose too much humidity through the screening. Hope this helps.

I should most likely not be one correcting someones spelling, as mine is bad enough. But a Sarong is a skirt.... You're looking for "Sorong".

But now that i see these photos... I'll take the woman in the Sarong over the green snake, any day !

Tim,

What is your opinion of the adjustable vent cover? Do you feel they are really necessary?

Bart

I have a solid top on all of the cages. So I have never closed the vents. I like a good amount of airflow going into all of my cages. I also use a ceiling fan all day and night in my snake room and the humidty stays fine.

Tim - what are you using for heat and light (if anything) for them? Being that my GTP is a show piece (sits on our mantle) I really wanted to have a light in the cage - so I opted for the top screen and now I'm kicking myself for it cause no matter how I soak the substrate he always ends up with bad sheds. Going to have to buy a bigger one soon and don't want to make the same mistake twice.

Thanks!

BTW - I am using a compact florescent light for light and an UTH stuck to one side for heat - if that makes any difference.

I use Pro Products heat panels in all of the cages. I have enough sunlight coming into the room threw the blind so I don't use any lights.
