Some of this year's clutch & a surprise!

chaoscat Aug 08, 2006 01:11 PM

I had 12 in all hatch from a Vpi pair of adult Borneos...

(Just some of the clutch)

and the surprise...

The parents are a CB 2002 from VPI, male hatched a month or two later than the female. Baby photos of the parents are still up on VPI's site. Both adults have tail stripes, gray sides, tan markings and peach heads.

Nice job chaos.Haven't been into the bloods that long and already threw a nice clutch.Didn't you buy the parents as adults?
So did you see the Ultra breits.Your last one looks close to what they are calling these new colored borneos.Look on the classifieds, some are going for $5000.Great job agian.

My first clutch! My reds bred this year too, but nothing came of it and the female was found dead a few days ago Necro showed nothing!

The Borneos I bought as adults from a lady who bought them from VPI. The baby photos of them are still on VPI's site. A friend of mine here locally has what he calls ultra breits, but his are a completely different strain it appears. My one is very similar to the ones for sale in the classifieds, but slightly on the darker side. Maybe version 1 and there's more to go? Who knows... maybe the "ivory borneo" is at hand.

I'm not going to hold my breath for that... BUT, I have thought the same thing! Maybe in two years I'll know for sure if an even more extreme example will be produced. I really think it's possible since my adults are KILLER, but not even close to how crazy the Ultra babies look. My advice? Hold onto that snake!

All the best-

Matt

My plan is to hold onto it and two or three of the lighter siblings.

Damm that sucks about the female dying.I wonder what could have happened.Well looks like those VPI's will be producing nice clutches from here on out.Keep that last baby, maybe next year you'll get a few more you can sell.
