Hello.
You're going to have lots of fun. Monitors aren't textbook animals, and there is a wide variation of opinions on how they should be kept and bred. Be prepared to read many differing things about them. Just a friendly warning to you.

That said, be observant of your animals, and make decisions based on what THEY do, and not what people tell you they do. If that is not clear, it will be in good time.
Good luck, enjoy.

Welcome to the forum. I think you will enjoy the world of monitors. Don't hesitate to ask questions, your animals will appreciate it. Most people here are very helpful and enjoy talking monitors. Ackies are usually recommended as the best first monitor. I think they are one of the best monitors period. They don't require enormous cages, are easy to handle, and are interesting monitors. Read Proexotics care sheet as well as ours; they both have goood information. Happy Birthday and Good Luck.
