Chocolate Bananas.......

Kerby... Aug 08, 2006 09:57 PM

Also, this year my 2 Chocolate Bananas bred and shed laid 4 bad eggs, so next year.........

I did breed my male Chocolate Banana to a sibling Banana this year. I knew she was het for albino from a project last year. I found out this year that she is a double het (albino & hypermelanism), the male Chocolate Banana is now confirmed to be a hypermelanistc that is also het for albino! As 2 that didn't hatch were a Chocolate Banana and a Blizzard.

Don Shores also bred Chocolate Banana x Chocolate Banana and got Blizzards.

But I think Chocolate Banana has already made it's mark. A good idea for another variation that I'm sure will pop up!

"some of those i'm gonna rename them chocolate chips."

Ha ha! Jetzen, hwen I first got my chocolate banannnas from Don I told him he should call them rotten bannanas. He took offense to that but I explained they acually look more like an overipe bannanas than anything to do with chocolate.

JETZEN Aug 09, 2006 12:22 AM

chocolate chips to me.

bluerosy Aug 09, 2006 02:18 AM

The white ones look like chocolate chips but the dark brownish ones look like rotten bannanas

bluerosy Aug 09, 2006 02:30 AM

See no chocolate. Just overipe (ahem!) bannana.

Rainer do your chocolate bannanas have black bellies?

Kerby... Aug 09, 2006 07:22 AM

Aaron, mine do and Rainer's are also from Don Shores' stock.

LOL! It was 3 something in the morning when I posted that. I was tired and couldn't sleep. The first two pics I googled. After that post I went to my downstairs to the fridge for something and spotted the tan bannana sitting in the refrigerator.LOL!..bingo! So I just took a quick shot of it in the snake room.

But I must say. I think if the bannana was over ripe instead of brown from sitting in the fridge, it would have the colors closer resembling that of the Chocolate bannana kingsnake. The bannana I used was just cold and dark as a result. An overripe bannna would be black and tan. ....I am just going to have to get a pic of a choc. bannana cal king next to a real rotten bannana.

I am telling you these choc bannana kings really do look like rotten bannanas and I really need a life , do you think? LMAO!

Hey JETZEN,
as well fed and pampered as your snakes are,
you'd have to call them Chocolate Chunks! LOL!

Chocolate Bananas...?

The way they look I'm surprised no one has just referred to them as anerythristic cali kings.

Because it it the SAME recessive gene as the Mendotas, etc.. It is hypermelanistic, only on a Banana pattern.

Kerby,

So the lighter colored ones in thempics are just normal banannas? Or is there something unusual about them?

The reason I ask is I got some that look like that to and I am not familiar with cal king morphs to know if they are anything different than a regular bannana.

Kerby... Aug 09, 2006 12:03 AM

Here is a pic of the mommy.

The babies do look a little different. One of them has a really "fuzzy" look because the speckling is so small. Others have a "whitesided" look.

Not sure what to think until they get bigger and I get a better assesment.
