Beardie eggs...HELP..

Piglet106 Aug 03, 2003 08:02 PM

Hi, my beardie layed 14 eggs on July 24th, all but two of them are now peachish pinkish color, but not shriveled, and some have mildew growing on them....ANY HELP would be greatly appreciated......

color is a good guide but not definative alone. Good eggs should be white in color firm to the touch and not have an odor. if the color is off the egg could still be good (see posts about clear eggs). if it has fungus or appears to be sweating and wet to the touch (other than right before hatching) it will probably have a strong odor as well. remove it from the container so it does not hurt the good eggs. If you feel they might be good, put them in another container but don't keep them with the good eggs as fungus will spread.

good luck

Thanks for the reply...I also sent you an e-mail....I just felt the eggs....there is no odor at all, the pinkish/peachish eggs feel spongy and a little wet, but there are two eggs that feel pretty solid and are white...I will move the two good ones tommorow into there own container, correct?

Thanks again..

yes thats correct. what is the humity in the incubator? what are you using for a bedding and what ratio of water? I use perlite 1:1 ratio by weight with humidity in the incubator 40%-60%

Hi again..unfortunately I don't know the humidity...but I am guessing it is maybe too high....The eggs are not in vermiculite or perlite right now, didn't have that available to me at the time when she dropped the eggs, but I am gonna switch them into it tommorow.....the temp range is between 78-82 almost regularly....should I transfer the "odd" eggs into the perlite also.....Thanks again..
