Help with trip to northern new mexico?

My brother and I are planing (mostly to visit family) a trip to the area of new mexico near or north of Santa Fe from August 12th until the 15th. if anyone has any tips or pointers they would be greatly appreciated. hopefully we will be as sucessfull as we were in Trinidad Colorado a week or so ago. but yeah any info would be greatly needed.
