beachbeardies Aug 09, 2006 03:03 PM

here are some pics of my pebbles x dino cross. pebbles is a het hypo x pastel orange and dino is a snow x normal. babies come out of the egg super light and just lighten more over time. of course we do get some darker ones too. unfortunately most of this small clutch got nipped. only 3 made it in perfect condition. pics were taken at 7-8 weeks old

They are beautiful. But they seem really skinny. But they are very beautiful, even with the nips. How big are they?

at time of pics they were about 7-8 weeks. yes some look skinny, due to their nips they didnt grow as quickly as they normally would have. they eat 6 times a day, veggies, crickets, and roaches.

We bred some Translucents that tore each other up like that. After the second clutch putting up with that, even with extremely low density, we quickly got rid of Translucents. That is not nipping, nipping is the end of a tail, a toe maybe, we would not breed the pair if that’s what the babies do to each other. My wife freaked when the Translucents did it. I think many of these kinds of characteristics are inheritable. Hope you don’t think I’m busting on you, just offering an opinion. Otherwise, the light color is very cool.

almost every clutch ive had from these breeders, have ended up like this. i did however realize temps were off in the rearing bins. stupid digital thermometor was off by about 10 degrees. i got a temp gun and now have raised the temps. feeding them more, about 5-6 times a day worked better too. but anyways it was too late for this group really.

i know many people who breed translucents with no problems.
